Bob Mark was ordained as a Rabbi at Marbitzei Torah a private rabbinical seminary in 1970. He is a graduate of Yeshiva University (June 1967) with a BA in Political Science. While attending YU he served as Baal Koreh, Hebrew School Teacher and Judo Instructor at Bergenfield Dumont Jewish Center. Bob was also a graduate fellow at the Bernard Baruch Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (CCNY).
Subsequent to his ordination Bob continued with his business career while working part time as the Rabbi of Congregation Beth Abraham, Bergenfield New Jersey for two years. Rabbi Mark remained connected to Jewish Communal life since then by serving as the Baal Koreh in several congregations including Cong. Beth Sholom in Teaneck NJ and the Paramus Jewish Center. He also served on the board of both Yavneh Academy and Solomon Schechter Day School and taught Hebrew School at various times. From 1997-2004 Rabbi Mark was the Rabbi of the Grandview Palace Synagogue in Liberty NY.
Upon retiring from the full time businesses world Rabbi Mark accepted the part time rabbinical position with Congregation Beth Tikvah, New Milford, NJ which he hopes to rejuvenate by inspiring increased synagogue attendance and outreach to nearby communities. He is looking forward to the challenge and welcomes all to join him at services and activities at Congregation Beth Tikvah. Beth Tikvah is an egalitarian conservative congregation with traditional services.
Rabbi Mark is an active member of the Paramus Ambulance Corps and maintains a part time instructional practice teaching CPR and First Aid to individuals, groups and businesses.
Rabbi Mark is married to Gale, a graduate of Stern College of Yeshiva University. She is an RN and works as a unit manager of medical case managers in the unemployment compensation department at Traveler's Insurance.
Gale and Bob have four children Elisa, a teacher at Gerard Berman Day School (Solomon Schechter) in Oakland, NJ, Adeena a manager for a large dental practice, Eric an attorney (former assistant prosecutor in Somerset County) and currently an officer in the Hackensack Police Department and Steven, Youth Services Director for the YJCC in Washington Township NJ. All but Steven are married. Gale and Bob are the proud grandparents of two, Brielle and Brandon currently attending the nursery at Gerard Berman Day School.
